Kicking Things Off -- It's About Understanding

I don't like starting new projects with a big introduction. It tends to put my head in the clouds and keep me from what I actually want to work on. However, I can't very well start a new blog without at least a few thoughts on why I'm writing or what I hope to write about. So, on that note...

I love learning. I love reading. I love parsing arguments. I love knowledge... but perhaps most importantly I love understanding the world around me.

I can't say enough about the how amazing the Internet is for an information-junkie like me. Whether I'm looking for the New York Times, funny cat videos, XBox repair guides, or radio show re-broadcasts, nothing is very far away if I put my mind to it.

That said, I'm starting this blog because I have a few ideas I want to flesh out about how we use the Internet to communicate... specifically with the goal of increasing understanding between people.

To that end, I'll be making suggestions inspired by some of my favorite teachers, info graphic designers, journalists, and even programmers. Some will be good, and most will probably be bad, but with any luck we'll spark some good discussion around some good ideas and learn a thing or two along the way.
